Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay

I am a faithful person...to family, friends, and products that work.  Aztec Secret is near the top of my Favorite Product list; I use it religiously each week as a face mask (and many other ways that I'll get into shortly) and have given it as gifts to friends.  This magical clay is a must-have in your medicine cabinet!

What is it?

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay is bentonite clay from Death Valley, California, that is sun-dried for up to six months in temperatures that sometimes reach 134 degrees.  The unique structure of the molecules in Aztec Secret carry a negative electron charge. This comes from the valance electron count from the specific minerals found in the clay. When a spectographic analysis is done on Aztec Secret, almost every mineral found on Earth is present.

When a facial or clay poultice is applied to the skin it forms a negative charge. Poisons and toxins stored in the epidermis have a positive charge - Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay lifts the pimple and blackheads into the clay bed to cause accelerated healing and nourishment to the skin with over 50 minerals.  It is 100% natural!

How is it used?

Aztec Secret is great when mixed with equal parts water, but to take full advantage of it's abilities, I suggest mixing it with equal parts Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.  (Fun fact: the use of clay with apple cider vinegar can be dated back to the southern French priest of the16th century, Kneipp, and his natural treatments using clay packs and poultices.)

The mask is best mixed in a ceramic, wooden, or glass bowel with a non-metal spoon - something about ions...not sure if it's true, but to be safe, I follow the instructions.  Next, apply the mixture with a brush (I keep one in my cabinet specifically for facial masks) and then set a timer for 20-30 minutes, during which time you'll learn why the back of the packaging says FEEL YOUR FACE PULSATE!

You'll notice some reddening on your face after using warm water and a washcloth to remove the mask which is normal and will dissipate after 30 minutes.  This is a great time to followup with your favorite serum or treatment as the mask will have deep-cleaned your skin, allowing the product to efficiently soak in.

Are there any other uses?

Aztec Secret + Bragg ACV is a great combination to apply to bug bites as it pulls out the toxins, and I apply it to the bottoms of my feet once a month for a deep detox.  Aztec Secret is also a key ingredient in my DIY Deodorant.

Other uses listed on the Aztec Secret website include:
  • Antioxidant Mask - Mix equal parts of Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with brewed green tea and 500 mg. of Vitamin C with bioflavonoids (open up a capsule). Apply to skin, allow to dry and rinse. *Green Tea is currently being studied for its antioxidant, antibacterial, and cancer killing properties.
  • Foot Facial - Mix equal parts of Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with brewed Pau d'Arco Tea and 5 drops of Tea Tree Oil. Apply to feet, especially in between the toes, let dry 30 minutes and rinse well in warm water.
  • Honey Mask - Mix equal parts Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with apple cider vinegar, add 1 tablespoon raw honey. Apply to skin, allow to dry10 minutes and rinse with warm water. This mask is similar to a mask used by Cleopatra in her beauty ritual.
  • Body Pack - Mix one pound Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with one pint of apple cider vinegar. Apply a thin coat of the mixture to the body and allow to dry 15-20 minutes. Rinse well in the shower. One pound will do 2 people - HAVE FUN!  (That's a direct quote from the website!)

Giving this bizarre little wonder a try won't set you back much; a pound of the clay is less than $10 on Amazon.  But you might want to order an extra or two to give to friends because once you see how fantastic this stuff is you won't be able to help but share the Aztec Secret!

About Me

The short and sweet version:   I am a 40-some year old communication consultant and homeschooling mother of three (one son, two daughters) who wakes up each morning and does her darndest to make the most of her days, filling it with shared laughter, good food, natural beauty, healthy habits, stylish clothes, and memorable experiences...while attempting to age gracefully and (hopefully) slowly. The "embrace my long-winded, Irish roots" version: I am pretty firmly settled into my 40s. And I've had a fun time getting here; I counted down to my 40th birthday with a random act of kindness each week for the 40 weeks leading up to the big four-oh. I documented the journey on the Kindness Countdown blog to entertain and hopefully inspire others to spread niceties in their own lives. This was especially important for my own family, my children being a formative 10, 8, and 5-years old during the project. It was exceedingly rewarding to bless others alongside...

Life: Let's kick it up a notch!

It's a new day! It's a new week! It's a new month! Let's kick it up a notch! I don't mean to alarm you, but 1/4 of 2019 is over. How was it? Did you show yourself love, did you share compassion, did you take time to make memories with loved ones? Did you work towards your goals, did you keep your resolutions, did you make it a quarter for the history books? If you answered yes, congratulations! Work hard to maintain that momentum these next few months! If you answered no, start now with some forgiveness and self-reflection. Where are you giving your time and energy? Does it fill you up? If not, reprioritize and let some of it go to make room for more. More smiles, more love, more life. It's a new day/week/month/quarter! Let's kick it up a notch, shall we?!

The family that goes to IKEA together...

My family and I went to IKEA this afternoon to look at kitchen layouts for a remodel going on at home...and to drink lingonberry icees, buy some chip clips, try out all the couches, and make up stories about the imaginary families that live in the house displays. My daughters say their favorite moment was when I made a fake veggie stir-fry, pretending I was on a cooking show. "Oh, you caught me cooking!" 😉 Mine was watching everyone's faces as they sat down on the couches and chairs; it was instantly obvious what they thought of them...we're a family who wear our ❤️s on our sleeves! I'm excited for the weekend and more fun family shenanigans!
